                                                             INTERNATIONAL TRAVELS IN reFirement

This site was a gift to me on my 75th birthday in November, 2019, from our son, Jordan, and his spouse, Erika, while celebrating as a family on Playa la Ropa in Zihuatanejo, enjoying our time with them and our grandchildren.

While quarantining during the Covid Pandemic, I began to further populate and develop the site which Jordan had started for me. The contents, so far, represent Dispatches sent to family and friends beginning 2012 via emails containing writings and photos.

Jordan named it Dead Endkids after a small group of friends that my wife, Maggie, and I travel with occasionally. The name comes from when the 5 of us traveled to San Antonio and were so engaged in conversation on our way to Baggage Claim, that we ended up face-to-face with a wall, only to discover, that we had long ago passed the turn off for our bags, hence our group name!

Following 'graduation' from the workforce in 2006/2007, we were free to devote ourselves to our dream of international adventures via deambulando (Spanish for 'wandering') which are recorded herein.

My contribution is note-taking, which are entered into log and then converted to readable passages in the dispatches. Maggie serves as Chief Editor & Photographer. Examples of our thirst for the path-less-traveled include paragliding over the Stubai Valley in Austria, hiking the Inka Express trail in Peru, paddling the 19 mile long Pacurare River in Costa Rica, encountering juvenile Pygmy elephants playing a few feet from our outboard motor launch on the Lower Kinabatangan River in Northeastern Borneo and tenting overnight on the beach of the live volcano Anak Krakatau, located in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra. Anak has, since that 2014 adventure, erupted in both 2018 & 2020!

We hope that you will find these adventures educational, humorous and stimulating.

Cheers, Stan & Maggie Moffett
